My Style
I am strategic, analytic, solution-focused, direct and, quite frankly, a little impatient. Clients who want a softer style should probably choose a coach, consultant and program designer/facilitator who is better suited to their pace, orientation, and interpersonal dynamic.
I also like to infuse a little fun into my work. I see no reason why work should feel like a chore or burdensome obligation. I absolutely insist on doing what I love and to loving what I do. I want to work with clients who have smartly created the same conditions for themselves and who eagerly pursue the time and effort needed to turn great ideas into even greater realities.

Channels for Change
CoachingI was trained alongside other federal coaches -- in the spirit of supporting public servants so that they can be at their best in pursuing mission achievement.
I am also trained by Gallup -- the kings & queens of data collection and analysis -- which means that clients get the benefit of tens of thousands of data points when you are coached on your natural talents. Add to that my Coaching with ROI training and you have got yourself a true data geek at your service. And because I get to work with senior leaders in government, you get the benefit of all that I have learned from my service to dozens and dozens of senior leaders and emerging leaders who are all working on high-priority national goals or rounding out their executive development by stepping into uncharted territory in rotational assignments. |
Organizational PerformanceI have worked in the field of organizational performance since before the field had a name. I even have some childhood recollections that indicate that I was exhibiting a few performance improvement skills by the time I could ride a bike. It is simply what I do and how my whole being is oriented. If things can work better, I will point that out.
And I never stop seeking new ways to do that. I borrow on all kinds of fields -- neuroscience, talent development, Agile -- to create blended ways to improve performance. Given my education plus my experience at the local level, in nonprofits, and with many federal agencies, you get the benefit of a multitude of perspectives on how to manage and lead your organization to success using tried and true performance practices as well as a few new ones. |
Community-BuildingI pretty much have a master's degree in causing trouble. I had classes in how to generate engagement, gather support, and manipulate people who stood in the way. Turns out I was a natural.
But I wanted to work WITH the change organizations rather than against them so I channeled my pot stirring into government and nonprofit work. Everywhere I go, I get people excited about what is possible, tapping into their own passion and ideas for a better world. You get the benefit of a lifetime worth of bucking the system in a constructive way, gathering up followers, contributors, and ambassadors to the cause. Though I am not afraid of a conflict, I know that it is the appeal to like-minded people, getting them engaged, that makes the greatest difference between 'We did it!' and 'Well, we tried.'. |

Ideal Client
Established, ambitious leader of a small(ish), stable non-profit organization. Working artist, craftsperson, or other creative with a following. Solo-preneur with high quality products or services, a few loyal clients, and a heart. You are on the verge of greater things. You have some strong relationships within the community, some successes, and some solid skills and experience to build from. You have a network of people that support growth and want to work with you to achieve it.
You need to carve out dedicated, thoughtful time to be conscious of how you are leading your enterprise toward the goal. You want to intensify the impact of your unique talents to realize the vision rather than simply 'working harder'. You know you need to invest more time and attention into your inner-circle to make sure they are up for the task and that they can work in synchrony. You know that you have to spark additional stakeholder engagement to ensure that relationships are working in your favor and to their greatest benefit.
You have 3-9 months to either get where you want your organization or enterprise to be or 3-9 months to make sure you are on the path to get there over time.
