Nonprofit Entrepreneurs
For you, it is all about tapping into the power of grand goals and an entrepreneurial approach to make great things happen. I will help you work with your leadership team or key staff, your board, and your inner circle of partners to get as close to you can to the almost impossible, audacious goals that you have for those you serve.
Together, we will amplify your Moxie & accelerate your Momentum leveraging a custom blend of programs and services designed just for you and your circumstances. You are a savvy nonprofit leader on the verge of something big that will transform the landscape of the mission and grow the organization's impact. I want to help you write that story into reality.

Nonprofit organizations are mission-based enterprises. The term 'nonprofit' I think has some unintended consequences with people thinking that the organization has to be run on a shoestring and should not be focused on revenue-generation. Nonprofit leaders -- Executive Directors, board members, senior staff -- can all experiment with taking a more entrepreneurial -- or intrapreneurial -- view of their enterprise. After all, entrepreneurs are actually all about creating customer energy where it does not currently exist. The 'profit' comes as a result of that focus on creating customer demand & customer energy. Who are the customers of your nonprofit? What market energy can be generated to engage them in ways that influence their choices and change their behavior? What would happen if you set your sights on expansion (market growth) or creating a new service model (disrupting the market) that truly changed the face of your mission area (industry)?
Center for Nonprofit Advancement
EXCEL Award
I am proud to chair the awards committee for the Center for Nonprofit Advancement's annual EXCEL Award given to the top DC-area nonprofit executives. EXCEL stands for Excellence in Chief Executive Leadership. We read all of the nominations. We choose 8 people to interview in person. We choose 5 people to do a site visit with so that we can see their work in action and meet with board members, staff, and clients. I am always blown away by a number of candidates and always look forward to doing it all again the following year. There are some truly awe-inspiring people doing truly great things. For other people.
With several years of nominations, interviews, and site visits -- and of course all the great discussion we have among the members of the awards committee -- I learn so much about what it takes to really propel an organization forward. One major purpose of the award process is to learn just what those things are so that they can be shared across the nonprofit community. I intend to impart as much of that collective wisdom to you as I possibly can.

"The reviews and comments we got from the participants were extremely positive. You, especially, were a hit!
One person even wrote: “you should invite her back for next year and please let me come sit in again.”
Another said you were “brilliant and inspiring.”
So again, thank you so much for helping make this panel such a success."
